Communications Officer at work

Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is hiring a Communications specialist to support AHNi’s internal and external communications, content development, media relations, digital platforms, publications, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

* Support internal and external communications strategies.

* Develop content for newsletters, websites, blogs, press releases and social media.

* Produce communication materials highlighting project activities and achievements.

* Support press conferences, media briefings, interviews and campaigns.

* Draft and disseminate media advisories, press releases and briefs.

* Develop success stories, lessons learned and program documentation.

* Support social media strategies, content development and feedback monitoring.

* Maintain online platforms and develop digital content and graphic designs.

* Produce IEC/BCC materials, infographics, factsheets, policy briefs and reports.

* Strengthen brand visibility through media relations and digital platforms.

* Support advocacy and resource mobilization through evidence-based communication.

* Ensure compliance with donor branding and marking guidelines.

* Build staff capacity in communication, documentation and knowledge management.

* Liaise with local and international media and monitor media coverage.

* Contribute to technical reports, grant proposals and presentations.

Requirements

* Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

* 5–7 years’ progressive experience in communications, knowledge management or media relations within the NGO/Development sector.

* Experience developing communication strategies and donor-focused reports.

* Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills.

* Proficiency in digital communication, social media management and graphic design, with high proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.

* Experience in advocacy, health or humanitarian projects.

* Knowledge of DoS/PEPFAR, Global Fund or other donor communication requirements is an advantage.

* Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.

* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
