Women in Leadership Advancement Network (WILAN) Global is hiring a Communications officer who will be responsible for planning and executing strategic communication initiatives that amplify WILAN’s mission, programmes, and impact.

The role will support the organization’s visibility by developing compelling content, managing digital communication channels, documenting programme outcomes, and strengthening engagement with beneficiaries, partners, donors, and the public.

Working closely with programme teams and external stakeholders, the Communications Officer will ensure that WILAN’s stories, campaigns, and advocacy efforts effectively promote women’s leadership and organizational impact. The role requires a creative storyteller with strong writing, digital communications, media relations, and project management skills, preferably with experience in the nonprofit, development, or social impact sector.

The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about using communications to drive social change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality written and visual content for reports, newsletters, blogs, social media, and presentation presentations
  • Manage and curate content across WILAN social media platforms
  • Develop and manage content calendars for digital communication channels.
  • Monitor digital engagement and recommend strategies to improve audience reach and engagement.
  • Support digital campaigns that promote WILAN’s programmes and advocacy initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media organizations and journalists.
  • Work closely with programme teams to document programme implementation and outcomes.
  • Support the development of impact stories, programme reports, success stories, case studies, and publications.
  • Support communication with partners, donors, beneficiaries, and external stakeholders.
  • Track communications performance using key metrics such as website traffic, social media engagement, media mentions, and campaign performance.
  • Prepare monthly communications reports and recommend improvements based on performance insights.
  • Maintain an organized repository of communication assets, publications, and multimedia resources.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure communication activities are aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Promote WILAN’s core values of kindness, collaboration, innovation, inclusion, and excellence in all communication.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mass communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English, Media Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4–5 years of relevant experience in communications, preferably within the nonprofit, international development, or social impact sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in development communications, advocacy campaigns, or strategic communications for NGOs or donor-funded programmes.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong understanding of digital communications, social media management, and content strategy.
  • Experience producing communication materials including reports, newsletters, press releases, case studies, and multimedia content.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital collaboration tools; experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, or similar content management and design tools is an added advantage.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
