The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced a new consultancy opportunity for a Nutrition Social Behaviour Change and Knowledge Management Consultant in Nigeria.
The position is based in Abuja and will be carried out on an office-based basis for four months.
The role is particularly suited to experienced professionals with backgrounds in communication, social and behaviour change, public health, development studies, advocacy or related fields.

About the UNICEF Consultancy
The consultant will work under the supervision of the Nutrition Manager and collaborate closely with UNICEF teams covering Child Nutrition and Development, Social and Behaviour Change (SBC), Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships (CAP), Adolescent Development and Participation (ADAP), as well as Field Office teams.
The assignment is designed to strengthen how UNICEF communicates its nutrition priorities, engages communities and young people, documents programme results and works with government, development partners, media and other stakeholders.
The successful candidate will also contribute to donor recognition, programme visibility and the development and management of knowledge products.
Key Responsibilities
The consultant will provide strategic and technical support across several areas of UNICEF Nigeria’s nutrition programme.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strengthening communication and advocacy for nutrition programmes.
- Supporting social and behaviour change initiatives.
- Developing strategies for social mobilisation and community engagement.
- Strengthening youth engagement and participation.
- Supporting stakeholder engagement across government and development partners.
- Coordinating media engagement and media relations.
- Improving programme visibility and donor recognition.
- Supporting knowledge management and documentation.
- Developing case studies and programme success stories.
- Supporting the production of multimedia communication materials.
- Contributing to digital engagement and social media campaigns.
- Supporting youth-focused communication platforms.
- Coordinating communication initiatives involving government, communities, media and development partners.
- Contributing to programme monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Documenting programme achievements, lessons and evidence.
- Providing strategic communication advice to UNICEF’s nutrition team.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have an advanced university degree (Master’s) in one of the following fields:

Professional Experience

Experience working in low- and middle-income countries will be particularly relevant to the assignment.
