Profile: Peju Adebajo, Newly Appointed PZ Cussons Non-Executive Director

PZ Cussons has appointed  Peju Adebajo to its board as a Non-executive director effective from the conclusion of PZ Cussons’ Annual General Meeting on 1 October 2026.

Professional Background

Peju Adebajo is the Managing Director of Etex Nigeria, a Nigerian building materials business. She is also a member of the Global Future Council on Climate and Nature Governance at the World Economic Forum.

She is currently a non-executive director at FCMB Group Plc, a NGX-listed financial services company, and of Wolseley Ltd in the UK. She has also been a non-executive director of Ibstock plc, listed on the London Stock Exchange, from 2021 to 2026.

She has held CEO roles in a number of companies including Lumos Nigeria, Lafarge Africa and Mouka Ltd and served as Ogun state Commissioner for Agriculture between 2017 and 2019.

Early Finance Career

Peju Adebajo started her career in the finance sector starting out as a Financial Analyst at Citibank between 1988 and 1991 before joining Boston Consuting Group as a consultant in 1993, a position she held till September 1995.

She also had a stint as UBA divisional head between 1996 and 2003 where she held senior roles in Strategy, Product Management and Branding, establishing and implementing the clear roadmap that defined the bank’s propositions, products and values. She would go on to serve as CEO of Kowa Microfinance before her foray into industrial and consumer goods.

Educational Background

She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London and an MBA from Harvard University. Peju Adebajo was also 2015 CNBC Africa Businesswoman of the Year, the recipient of the 2013 Harvard Business School Nigeria Leadership award, and was on Cranfield University’s 2021 ‘100 Women to Watch’ UK list.
