Context & Environment:
TotalEnergies is seeking a skilled Work Over Rig Superintendent for a challenging project in Uganda. The Tilenga field is a Green Field Project located near Lake Albert with sensitive environmental conditions. This industrial drilling project will involve circa 200 oil producer wells and 200 water injector wells, handling heavy and waxy oils. The oil will be produced and treated in a Production Center with significant capacities for oil and water treatment.
The project will use Electrical Submersible Pumps (ESP) for artificial lift, and includes an extended interconnecting network for temperature preservation. Contractors from around the world will collaborate under Ugandan regulations and international onshore plant codes.
Workover rigs will be essential, with two rigs dedicated to well maintenance from first oil. The first workover rig will be mobilized prior to first oil to complete upper completions of suspended oil producer wells.
Activities
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment):
- Lead by example, maintaining high HSEQ standards at all times.
- Participate in Site Committee Meetings on the workover rig.
- Assist in preparing and updating Technological Risk Assessments, Bridging Documents, and BOCP.
- Ensure the safe startup of operations with new build workover rigs, continuously improving HSE performance.
- Promote environmental impact reduction initiatives critical to the Tilenga project.
Preparations of Operations:
- Advise the Engineering team during the preparation of operational programs, ensuring timely program preparation and equipment delivery.
- Propose technological and digital innovations to improve safety and performance.
- Review and challenge operational programs.
- Participate in Well On Paper (CWOP) and Pre-Spud meetings.
- Coordinate and support COMOPS/SIMOPS activities preparation.
- Contribute to the improvement of operational procedures by reviewing well reports and incorporating lessons learned.
Operations Follow Up:
- Supervise and optimize workover rig operations, balancing performance and costs.
- Support workover rig supervision by updating instructions and recommending improvements.
- Coordinate day-to-day operations with logistics, fluids, well construction, and third-party contractors.
- Ensure timely delivery of equipment and resources to the site.
- Support COMOPS/SIMOPS coordination.
- Participate in decision-making as a member of the Chain of Command, keeping the hierarchy informed of operations status and escalating problems when needed.
Candidate Profile:
Qualifications & Experience:
- BSc Degree, Diploma, or equivalent professional experience.
- Valid IWCF level 4 (combined surface & subsea), Chain of Command (COC) certificate (Superintendent level), and T-BOP certification are mandatory.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, with various roles including WSSV and WSI.
