London School of Economics is Hiring: Policy Fellow CETEx (Monetary and Financial Markets)

The London School of Economics and Political Science is hiring a policy fellow on CETEx (Monetary and Financial Markets).

This job opening is under the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment and is a fixed term appointment until 31 May 2027.

Salary Range

Salary ranges from £53,204 to £61,301 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £68,119 pa inclusive of London allowance

About the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx)

The Centre for Economic Transition Expertise (CETEx), was established within the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment with a focus on leveraging, strengthening and amplifying research, and developing well targeted policy analysis and other outputs.

By convening policymakers, and by providing technical support, assistance and capacity-building. CETEx aims to support the reforms necessary to deliver sustainable, inclusive and resilient economies and financial systems across Europe.

About the Job

The experienced Policy Fellow would co-lead programmes and projects on the role of monetary and financial market (MFM) authorities (e.g., central banks, supervisors, financial market regulators and standard setters) in addressing environmental risks and supporting reforms.

The Policy Fellow will provide policymakers with a tailored evidence base, technical implementation guidance and the policy narratives to implement far-reaching reforms to deliver sustainable, inclusive and resilient economies and financial systems across Europe. They will conduct rigorous research and policy analysis and develop policy proposals to inform the decisions of MFM authorities, and related climate and environmental policy questions, with application to central banking, financial supervision, financial market regulation and standards in the European context.

They will also prepare and contribute to high-quality research-based policy reports, briefing papers, and presentations on the role of central banks and supervisors in the economic transition, and independently lead development of related outputs, and build and maintain relationships particularly among a strong network of European climate policy contacts in the public, private, and third sectors.

Job Requirements

Candidates are expected to have a master’s degree in environmental economics/policy, sustainable finance, economics, finance, management, law or a closely related field.

Candidates should also have strong knowledge of the field of monetary and financial markets and related climate and environmental policy questions, with application to central banking, financial supervision, financial market regulation and standards in the European context, as well as experience of directly engaging with or working within monetary and financial market authorities in Europe or overseas on issues relating to environmental degradation and economic transition.

Candidates should also have a strong publication track record of policy and research publications, or professional experience developing policies and implementation guidance, on the role of monetary and financial markets authorities in the context of environmental degradation and economic transition.
