Late Show Puts Argentina Into 2026 World Cup Final

A late Lautaro Martínez header put Argentina into the World Cup Final after trailing England for the greater part of the second half.

Enzo Fernandez equalised with five minutes left with a brilliant strike from distance from Lionel Messi’s assist. Messi then crossed for Martinez to win it.

England had taken the lead through Anthony Gordon’s deft finish from Morgan Rogers’ quality cross in the 55th minute.

Despite spirited defending, England could not sustain Argentina’s pressure as Thomas Tuchel side totally surrendered the ball to the Argentines.

Thomas Tuchel’s defensive changes only invited further pressure and in the end, Argentina were able to pick off England with the players dropping deeper and deeper.

Argentina  will now have the chance to defend their World Cup title against Spain in sunday’s final.
