President Joe Biden has succumbed to pressure to drop out of the 2024 elections. The pressure mounted to find another candidate for the Democratic Party after President Joe Biden’s poor performance in a June 27 debate against Donald Trump, the Republican Party candidate.

During the debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, Biden’s performance was widely criticized for various reasons. He struggled to maintain a coherent message, often appearing flustered and defensive in response to Trump’s aggressive interruptions and attacks. Critics noted that Biden’s delivery lacked the energy and assertiveness needed to counter Trump’s dominant presence on the stage.

Biden’s performance was seen as lacking clarity and conviction on key policy issues, making it difficult for him to effectively communicate his vision to the audience. His responses to Trump’s criticisms were often perceived as weak or evasive, failing to effectively rebut the accusations or pivot to his own talking points. This inability to seize control of the narrative allowed Trump to dominate the conversation and overshadow Biden’s attempts to present his policies.

President Biden’s announcement to drop out of the race, delivered just four months before the November 5 election, has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, plunging the race for the White House into uncertainty.

“Serving as your president has been the greatest honour of my life,” Biden said, promising to address the nation in more detail later this week.

Biden’s unprecedented decision introduces significant unpredictability into US policy and the global political arena, especially amid current geopolitical tensions in regions like the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East.

This move follows over three weeks of intense debate within the Democratic Party regarding Biden’s candidacy.

Concerns about his mental acuity were reignited after a poor performance in a debate against Donald Trump, leading to a sharp decline in his approval ratings among American voters.

A recent Associated Press poll revealed that nearly two-thirds of Democratic voters believed Biden should withdraw from the race.

The aftermath of the debate saw a significant amount of media analysis and public discourse focusing on Biden’s performance. Many commentators and political analysts expressed concern over Biden’s ability to withstand the rigours of a contentious campaign, raising questions about his readiness to take on the challenges of the presidency. This debate performance was seen as a potential turning point, potentially affecting voter perceptions and influencing the dynamics of the campaign going forward.

Endorses Vice President Kamala Harris

In a widely expected move, President Joe Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party candidate for the 2024 American presidential elections, “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this”.
