The Federal Government has opened applications for a free three-week solar photovoltaic installation training programme for Nigerians seeking to build careers in the renewable energy sector.
The programme, organised in partnership with Siemens Energy and the German development agency GIZ, will train participants in solar PV installation through classroom instruction, practical sessions, technical site visits and competency assessments.
Applications for the training close at 4pm on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Programme Details
The initiative is being delivered under the Siemens Energy Education and Development project, known as SEED, with support from the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, a technical assistance programme co-funded by the European Union and the German Government and implemented by GIZ.
According to a notice published by FGN Power Company, the programme is open to professionals, technicians, young people and others interested in renewable energy, including applicants without formal education or previous practical experience.
Recent graduates with National Diploma, Higher National Diploma or undergraduate qualifications, young professionals in relevant fields and people seeking to enter the renewable energy industry are also encouraged to apply.
Successful participants who complete the programme will receive certification from the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
The training will take place at centres in Lagos and Abeokuta, Ogun State, with each training stream running for three weeks and requiring participants to attend physically.
Applicants will be required to provide their name, gender, phone number, email address and preferred training location, as well as information about their educational and professional background, employment status, work experience and sector of employment.
Those with formal educational qualifications will also be required to upload their latest CV and degree certificates or other relevant credentials.
The organisers said the training and certification are free, while meals will be provided on training days. However, participants will be responsible for their own transportation and accommodation.
