Key Responsibilities
The Cybersecurity Engineer will:
Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and other security solutions.
Conduct security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies.
Develop and implement cybersecurity policies and procedures to protect company data and systems.
Monitor network traffic and respond proactively to potential cyber threats.
Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, VPNs, and related networking equipment.
Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
Collaborate with internal IT teams and business units to improve technology processes.
Stay informed on emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and industry trends.
Provide cybersecurity awareness training and technical support to end users.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
At least six years of experience in cybersecurity and networking engineering.
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
Experience conducting security assessments and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST, CIS, and GDPR.
Strong understanding of networking technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLANs.
Experience configuring and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure. Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Preferred Certifications
Afrinvest stated that candidates with the following certifications will have an added advantage:
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH).
Additional certifications from Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto Networks, or other relevant technology providers.
