How Nigerians in UK Can Take Advantage of NIS Passport Intervention Exercise

The Federal Government through the the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the dates and venues for a passport intervention exercise for Nigerians living in the United Kingdom.

The exercise will take place in London, Manchester, Aberdeen and Cardiff as part of efforts to address pending passport applications and improve services for Nigerians in the diaspora.

The intervention follows the deployment of a Passport Intervention Team from the NIS headquarters in Abuja. The Service said the deployment was made following a directive from the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and consultations with the Nigerian High Commission and representatives of Nigerian communities in the UK.

According to a public announcement, the London and Manchester exercises will run from September 7 to 19, 2026 at at Layali Lounge, Trent Park, Bramley Road, London N14 4UW and Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE respectively.

The Aberdeen exercise will be held at Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen AB24 4NR, while the Cardiff exercise will take place at Sophia Gardens, Sophia Walk, Cardiff CF11 9XR.

Requirements

The NIS urged eligible Nigerians in the four cities and surrounding areas to take advantage of the intervention exercise to apply for new passports, renew existing passports or resolve pending applications.

Applicants are required to complete their applications and make payment through the NIS Passport Application portal before visiting their selected venue.

They must also present:

  • Completed passport application forms
  • Payment slips as proof of payment
  • Appointment slips
  • A self-addressed return envelope

Applicants seeking passport renewal are additionally required to present their current passports and the Immigration Service has warned that applicants who arrive with cash will not be attended to.

Contactless Passport Application Remains Available

The NIS said its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, remain operational and added that home delivery is also available to applicants.
