Israeli forces targeted ballistic missile sites in Qom and an air defence system in Isfahan. At the same time, Iran fired missiles towards Israel, triggering air raid sirens in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem on day six of the ongoing Middle East conflict.
Interceptions prevented major damage, and no casualties were immediately reported from these latest exchanges. Israel also carried out airstrikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold, killing three people and injuring six near Beirut-Rafik Hariri International Airport, according to Lebanese health officials.
A senior Hamas official and his wife were reported killed in a drone strike on a refugee camp in Beddawi.
The violence has displaced more than 80,000 people in Lebanon alone, with the United Nations Refugee Agency noting significant population movements, including around 100,000 leaving Tehran in the early days of the crisis.
Further afield, Iranian drones struck areas in Azerbaijan, injuring two civilians and damaging an airport and a school in the vicinity. Explosions were reported in Manama, Bahrain, and Doha, Qatar, linked to the broader retaliation. Iran claimed its forces hit a US tanker in the northern Gulf, causing it to catch fire, though independent verification remains limited. A separate incident saw a tanker off Kuwait struck by an explosion, taking on water, with an oil spill reported but no crew injuries.
In a related maritime development, the United States sank an Iranian ship near Sri Lanka, with Iran condemning the action and warning of regret over the precedent set. Dozens of sailors remain missing from that incident.
