IShowSpeed Sparks Viral Frenzy After Racing a Cheetah During Africa Livestream

Ishowspeed races cheetah

Popular streamer and internet personality IShowSpeed set social media ablaze this week after footage from his Africa livestream tour appeared to show him nearly keeping pace with a cheetah in a short foot race.

The moment occurred during a visit to a wildlife facility, where Speed—known for his high-energy antics and spontaneous stunts—took part in a supervised sprint alongside the world’s fastest land animal. In the clip, which quickly spread across X, Speed bursts forward as the cheetah accelerates beside him, creating the illusion of a surprisingly close contest for the first few seconds.

While the cheetah ultimately pulled ahead, the brief sprint was enough to ignite online debate, memes, and exaggerated claims that the streamer had “almost beaten” the animal.

Wildlife experts and viewers were quick to point out that cheetahs can reach speeds of up to 70 mph in full runs and that the animal was likely not sprinting at maximum speed during the controlled demonstration.

Still, the spectacle achieved exactly what Speed’s streams often deliver: viral attention.

Fans praised his fearlessness and athleticism, while others highlighted the entertainment value of seeing a global internet star interact with local culture and wildlife during his tour.

The race has since become one of the most talked-about moments from IShowSpeed’s Africa trip, underscoring his ability to turn even a few seconds of footage into a worldwide conversation—even when competing, briefly, with nature’s fastest sprinter.
