Four men from Croydon have been sentenced for their roles in a brutal and unprovoked attack on two 16-year-old boys in Whyteleafe, Surrey, that involved a samurai sword, other weapons, and a deliberate attempt to kill one of the victims with a car.
The incident took place in the early hours of 9 March 2024 on Godstone Road, close to the Whyteleafe Tavern pub.
The teenagers were approached by a group of men who demanded to know “where they were from” – a phrase commonly associated with gang confrontation.

Adrian Rozpara, 21, from Croydon, was brandishing a one-metre-long samurai sword, while Machas Tuzizila, 29, of Dunley Drive, New Addington, was also armed. Moments later, Fabion Parnell, 26, of Goodenough Way, Coulsdon, deliberately drove a car into one of the boys as he attempted to escape on a moped. The vehicle struck the teenager, dragged him along the road, and then ran over him a second time before the gang fled.
After the boy was on the ground, Harvey Manley, 22, of Rowdown Crescent, New Addington, repeatedly kicked and punched the unconscious victim in the face and body before stealing his coat.
Sentences handed down at Guildford Crown Court are as follows:
– Fabion Parnell, 26 – 8 years and 3 months imprisonment for attempted grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified.
– Harvey Manley, 22 – 3 years and 9 months (released on the day of sentencing due to time already served on remand since March 2024) for robbery.
– Adrian Rozpara, 21 – 2-year suspended sentence plus community requirements for threatening a person with an offensive weapon and affray.
– Machas Tuzizila, 29 – 10 months imprisonment (sentenced September 2024) for possession of an offensive weapon and handling stolen goods.
Surrey Police released custody images of Parnell and Manley on 5 December 2025 following the conclusion of court proceedings.
Detective Constable Blackford of Surrey Police’s Criminal Investigations Department said: “This was an unprovoked, violent and sustained attack against two 16-year-old boys that could easily have had fatal consequences.
The investigation was complex and required close collaboration between multiple units across Surrey Police and the Metropolitan Police. Thanks to that joint effort, all four men have now been held accountable in court.”
The attack left a stretch of Godstone Road and the junction with St Luke’s Road cordoned off for several days while officers carried out forensic examinations.
All four men were arrested in the weeks following the incident after an intensive manhunt involving both Surrey and Metropolitan Police forces.
