£63,000 Range Rover Sport Named Most Unreliable Car

A £63,000 “Chelsea Tractor” has been named Britain’s most unreliable car.

The Range Rover Sport scored just one star out of five for reliability in motors less than three years old, in a survey by Which?.

It found 42 percent of owners had taken the car to a garage in the past 12 months with problems ranging from the on-board computer to suspension issues. High-tech extras make it attractive to many middle-class city motorists but they are also the main source of faults, the study said.

These include the built-in satnav, connectivity, dashboard displays, parking sensors and on-board camera — all needing repair over the past year.

Land Rover stablemate, the Discovery Sport joined it at the bottom of the table. Which? said: “If reliability is high on your agenda our survey suggests avoiding the Range Rover Sport.”

It is the second year running the Sport has come last in the Which? members’ poll.

The Land Rover Discovery Sport is twice as likely to need a trip to the garage than average.

Which? added: “Got your eye on a new Discovery Sport? If so, you might want to see if your repair garage has some sort of loyalty scheme, because you’re probably going to be spending a lot of time there.”
