Role Summary
As the Manager of Operations in Douala, Cameroon, you will be responsible for optimizing the performance and efficiency of IHS Towers’ operations in the region. This includes managing preventive and corrective maintenance, coordinating with key departments (NOC, Diesel, Procurement, Finance, and HR), leading regional projects, ensuring health and safety compliance, and enhancing customer relations.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Regional Manager to enhance operational performance and implement optimized maintenance schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of site assets, including power systems, security arrangements, and team assignments.
  • Manage projects, restoration efforts, and monthly service validations in collaboration with contractors (SBCs).
  • Ensure all operations comply with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and SOX requirements.

Diesel Management

  • Track diesel consumption and performance of power systems (solar, hybrid, and IPT) at regional sites.
  • Analyze diesel consumption trends and identify inefficient sites for improvement.

NOC Coordination

  • Support the NOC team to ensure accurate data collection, preventive maintenance validation, and timely incident reporting.
  • Monitor and resolve trouble tickets within the managed region.

Procurement & Stock Management

  • Assist in optimizing procurement of spare parts and consumables.
  • Oversee inventory levels and validate equipment orders in collaboration with the Procurement Department.

Contractor (SBC) Management

  • Participate in the selection and performance assessment of contractors, ensuring compliance with maintenance and operational standards.
  • Resolve site-level issues and support documentation of preventive maintenance efforts.

Financial Coordination

  • Validate monthly budgets and project expenses for the managed region.
  • Monitor financial tracking for project costing and invoicing processes.

HR & Team Management

  • Set KPIs for team leaders and assess operational staff performance.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
  • Ensure team motivation and alignment with IHS Towers’ vision and goals.

Health, Safety & Quality Compliance

  • Implement and uphold health, safety, and quality policies across the region.
  • Conduct regular audits to maintain compliance with ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Develop strong relationships with regional customer representatives to ensure satisfaction and address any service challenges.
  • Support regional upgrades, tenancy expansion, and hosting projects.

Technical Involvement

  • Provide on-site support during major technical incidents to minimize service downtime.
  • Ensure proper electrical installations and grounding systems on all sites.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA is a plus).
