We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Director, Corporate Commercial to join our legal team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our business activities, policies, and contractual arrangements adhere to legal and regulatory frameworks.
Job Purpose
Provide expert advisory services on drafting, legal structuring, fiscal efficiency, and compliance of contractual arrangements, ensuring IHS operations comply with internal and external regulatory standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Advise on commercial and business law, providing actionable recommendations on business initiatives.
- Lead the development of legal and regulatory frameworks and ensure compliance with IHS policies.
- Collaborate with the IHS Nigeria leadership team to promote compliance awareness and mitigate risks.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners, including technical and financial stakeholders.
- Conduct due diligence and structure deals related to commercial transactions.
- Provide legal advice on contracts with Tier 1 customers and major vendors, focusing on risk management and value creation.
- Participate in high-level contract negotiations to reduce costs and enhance business outcomes.
- Oversee departmental resources to ensure financial discipline and cost-effective operations.
- Drive knowledge management and process optimization within the corporate commercial team.
- Prevent disputes that could result in financial loss.
- Mentor and coach team members to support their career growth and professional development.
- Foster innovation by identifying new business opportunities and supporting process improvements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director, Legal.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB and BL). Advanced degrees such as a Master’s or MBA are an advantage.
- Minimum of 15 years post-call experience, with at least 5 years in senior management within a multinational corporation.
- Strong expertise in legal analysis, business acumen, and contract negotiations.
- Experience handling complex legal projects under pressure.
- Background in civil or commercial litigation is advantageous.
- Familiarity with telecom regulations in Nigeria is preferred.
