Aspiring and established designers from around the world now have a streamlined pathway to live and work in the United Kingdom through the Global Talent Visa, a flexible immigration route that bypasses traditional employer sponsorship requirements.
The visa targets leaders and rising stars in the design industry, allowing them to contribute to one of the world’s most dynamic creative economies. Endorsements for design professionals are handled by the Design Business Association (DBA) on behalf of the Arts Council England.
Routes to Endorsement
Applicants can apply under one of two categories:
– Exceptional Talent (Recognised Leader): For established professionals with a substantial international body of work, significant recognition, and a strong global reputation.
– Exceptional Promise (Emerging Leader): Aimed at talented early-career designers showing rapid progression, high-quality work, and strong potential to become future leaders.

Application Process
The process involves two main stages:
1. Endorsement Application: Submit a portfolio of evidence, CV, recommendation letters, and supporting documents demonstrating international impact and achievements. Applications go through the official endorsement system and are typically decided within **8 weeks**.
2. Visa Application: Can be submitted alongside the endorsement or after approval. Processing takes about 3 weeks from outside the UK and 8 weeks from inside the UK
If you’re applying based on an endorsement, you’ll pay the £766 in two parts:
- £561 when you apply for the endorsement
- £205 when you apply for the visa itself
If you’re applying based on an eligible prestigious prize, you’ll pay the full £766 when you apply for the visa. If you are also including your partner or children in your application, they’ll each need to pay £766.
