It is no longer news that there have been calls by Electricity Distribution Companies (Discos) for the upgrade of prepaid meters to the STS 2 vending platform before November 24, 2024, to avoid disconnection and to be unable to recharge electricity tokens.
The Token Identifier (TID) is a 24-bit field found in STS-compliant tokens, identifying the date and time of token generation.
As the deadline draws closer, here are a few steps to follow for the live meter upgrade:
- Visit Kctcheck.ekedp.com
- Input your meter number and click search
- input the two (2) sets of 20-digit Key Change Tokens (KCT) you receive onto your keypad one after the other
- Your meter upgrade is complete
Why you should upgrade
The TID rollover is necessary for:
1. Improved service & security,
2. Direct & seamless communication (24/hrs)
3. Compliance with international standards.Customers Complaining
As the deadline for the upgrade draws close, there have been widespread complaints by customers still vending on the STS 1 platform. These complaints are a result of the perceived difficulty in making the switch to the STS 2 platform with some customers generally reluctant to make the move from the STS – 1 platform to STS – 2 due to the relative cost-effectiveness of vending on the STS – 1 platform.
