The move places Royal Air Maroc among a growing number of airlines adopting satellite internet to improve inflight connectivity.

Royal Air Maroc will install Starlink satellite internet on 41 aircraft from early 2027, making it the first African airline to offer the SpaceX-backed connectivity service, according to the airline.

The Moroccan flag carrier said passengers using aircraft equipped with the technology will have access to high-speed, low-latency internet during flights.

Members of Royal Air Maroc’s Safar Flyer loyalty programme will receive free access to the service once Starlink has been installed on their aircraft.

The airline said the phased installation will begin in early 2027, with the service expected to cover flights connecting Casablanca with destinations across Africa and other international markets.

Starlink confirmed the partnership, saying passengers and crew on Royal Air Maroc flights will soon have access to its satellite-based internet service.

“Soon, passengers and crew onboard Royal Air Maroc will have access to Starlink,” the company said, describing the service as high-speed and low-latency connectivity.

The technology is designed to allow passengers to stream video, work online, browse the internet and remain connected throughout flights. Royal Air Maroc said the Starlink agreement is part of a broader programme to improve its fleet, cabins and passenger services.

Chief Executive Officer Hamid Addou said the connectivity project forms part of the airline’s efforts to enhance the overall passenger experience as it upgrades its operations.

Starlink executive Lauren Dreyer said the partnership would extend the onboard connectivity experience already available with airlines in other markets to passengers travelling through Morocco.

Royal Air Maroc Joins Global Airline Starlink Rollout

The move places Royal Air Maroc among a growing number of airlines adopting satellite internet to improve inflight connectivity. Air France began introducing Starlink-powered Wi-Fi in 2025 and has been working towards equipping its fleet with the technology.

For Royal Air Maroc, the introduction of free Starlink access for Safar Flyer members could strengthen the airline’s appeal to business travellers and passengers connecting through its Casablanca hub.

The airline’s announcement, however, does not mean Starlink is already available on Royal Air Maroc flights. Installation is scheduled to begin in early 2027 and will be rolled out gradually across the 41 aircraft.
