Davies Oyegbata has been appointed as MTN Cameroon Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director with the expectation he will contribute to advancing the company’s strategic priorities, strengthening its performance and continuing to create value for all stakeholders in the country.
Rich Telecoms Sector Experience
With more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications sector, Financal Services and Consulting across Africa and Europe, Davies brings extensive financial expertise and a strong understanding of the industry to MTN Cameroon.
Before joining MTN Cameroon, he served as Managing Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of TRUSERV, a United Kingdom-based consulting firm, from April 2025 to June 2026.
At TRUSERV, he focused on business transformation, process digitisation and optimisation, telecommunications, e-commerce and fintech deployment and turnaround, as well as mergers and acquisitions and business exit management.
Oyegbata also has significant experience within the telecommunications industry, having held senior finance positions at BT Group, MTN, Vodacom, Vodafone and Cable & Wireless Communications.
Leadership Experience at BT Group
At BT Group, Oyegbata served as Finance Director at BT Business from May 2023 to April 2025. In that role, he was responsible for finance business partnering and the integration of BT Enterprise and BT Global into BT Business, a business with £8.3 billion in revenue. He also had responsibility for BT Business’ cost transformation programme.
Prior to that, he was Finance Director at BT Enterprise from October 2022 to May 2023, where he handled financial planning, reporting, decision support, financial controlling and governance.
His responsibilities also covered commercial strategy, including pricing, go-to-market strategy, sales and distribution, and marketing.
Previous MTN and Vodacom Roles
Oyegbata previously worked with MTN as General Manager, Commercial Finance, from January 2018 to September 2022 where he was responsible for financial planning, reporting, finance decision support and financial controlling across MTN’s consumer, enterprise, digital and fintech businesses, as well as strategy and transformation and customer operations.
Before returning to MTN, he served as Executive Head, Commercial Finance Support at Vodacom from November 2015 to December 2017.
At Vodacom, his responsibilities included financial planning and analysis, business partnering, commercial strategy development and execution, customer value management, product development, pricing, sales and distribution, digital services, customer experience, insights and loyalty.
Extensive Vodafone Career
Oyegbata spent nearly six years at Vodafone in the United Kingdom, holding several finance positions between 2006 and 2011. He served as Finance Manager for Vodafone UK Commercial Finance from October 2013 to November 2015, overseeing financial reporting, planning and analysis, finance business partnering and financial control.
Earlier in his Vodafone career, he worked as Lead Financial Analyst in UK Financial Planning & Analysis, Group Tax Accountant in Group Corporate Finance and Business Case Analyst.
His experience included financial modelling, forecasting, tax reporting and planning, tax cash-flow management, financial reporting and analysis, supplier contract management and project management.
