Momo PSB, the financial technology subsidiary of MTN Nigeria has appointed Bode Abifarin as its MD/CEO joining from Flutterwave where she spent eight years.
Financial Sector Experience
Bode Abifarin joined Flutterwave as Chief Operating Officer in 2018 after a 15-year career in management consulting at KPMG progressing from Associate to Manager, Senior Manager and Associate Director in the firm’s management consulting practice.
Abifarin brings more than 23 years of experience across financial services, consulting, digital payments, fintech, strategy, operations and business transformation.
In a 2024 interview, she described the transition from consulting to Fintech as an opportunity to move from producing strategies and presentations for clients to actually operationalising them inside a high-growth company.
Flutterwave itself credited Abifarin with playing a central role in the company’s operational development having been responsible for managing day-to-day operations and driving improvements in how the company supported its customers.
Olugbenga Agboola, Flutterwave’s co-founder and CEO, described Abifarin as the “heartbeat” of the company’s operations when she departed in 2024.
Abifarin founded Strata Advisory in April 2024 where she serves as Founder and CEO. She has also been involved in Nigeria’s technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem, including leadership roles with Women in Tech Nigeria and the Lagos Business School Tech-Leap Initiative Advisory Board.
Academic Background
Abifarin holds an MBA from Imperial College London and a postgraduate qualification through Emeritus,
The MoMo PSB appointment therefore represents more than a conventional executive succession. Abifarin is moving from helping build a private fintech infrastructure business to running a regulated payment service bank backed by one of Nigeria’s largest telecommunications companies.
