Motorists across Nigeria can now renew expired tinted glass permits online through the Nigeria Police Force’s Specialised Services Automation Project (POSSAP) portal.
In an announcement on X on Thursday, POSSAP advised vehicle owners to renew their permits before expiration to avoid inconvenience during traffic checks.
The online process allows motorists to access their existing accounts, identify expired permits and submit renewal requests without necessarily visiting a police office to begin the process.
How to Renew Tinted Glass Permit Online
Motorists seeking to renew their permits are required to visit the official POSSAP website at possap.gov.ng and log in to their existing accounts.
After logging in, applicants should follow these steps:
- Click on the Profile icon at the top-right corner of the page.
- Select Service Request, then choose Renewals.
- Locate the expired tinted glass permit displayed by the system.
- Click on Actions beside the relevant permit.
- Select Renew Permit to proceed with the application.
The portal will display expired permits associated with the applicant’s account, allowing motorists to select the permit they intend to renew.
How to Complete Vehicle Verification
After initiating the renewal, applicants must complete the required verification process. POSSAP provides two options.
The first is physical verification through the SIB/FIB option, where applicants select their state and police command.
The second is virtual verification. Applicants who choose this option should select Verify Documents Online, choose their state and police command, and click Continue to VVS to validate the vehicle identification number (VIN).
Once verification is completed, applicants should click Generate Invoice & Continue and make the required payment.
The renewal request will then be processed for approval by the relevant authorities. The announcement does not specify a processing timeline.
