The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has urged the federal government to intensify efforts against terrorism and insecurity, stating that security chiefs should be given a clear deadline to eliminate terrorist threats or step down from their positions.
Speaking during a public address, Adeboye expressed concern over the persistent security challenges facing the country, emphasizing that many Nigerians have endured years of violence, kidnappings, and terrorist attacks.
According to the respected cleric, citizens have continued to exercise patience despite the difficult circumstances. He stressed that the situation requires decisive leadership and swift action from those responsible for safeguarding lives and property.
“But I have tried, and God is my witness,” Adeboye said while addressing the issue of insecurity. “What should we do now? I am talking to you as my children.”
The pastor suggested that if he were in a position to advise the government directly, he would recommend setting a strict timeline for security agencies to bring the security crisis under control.
“I would say quietly to your government: move fast and tell our security chiefs to get rid of these terrorists within 90 days or resign,” he stated.
Adeboye’s remarks come amid ongoing national conversations about the effectiveness of security operations across different parts of the country.
His comments have added to growing calls from religious leaders, civil society groups, and citizens for stronger measures to tackle terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes.
The cleric emphasized the need for urgent and measurable results, arguing that Nigerians deserve to live in safety and peace after years of security challenges that have affected communities and economic activities nationwide.
His statement is expected to spark further debate on the country’s security strategy and the accountability of officials tasked with protecting citizens.
