On Wednesday, Nigeria’s foremost music awards, The Headies, unveiled the nominations for its 17th edition, showcasing a diverse lineup of both local and international talents who have made significant impacts in the music industry over the last year with Odumodublvck and Mohbad leading the 2024 headies award nominations.
Tochukwu Ojogwu, known professionally as Odumodublvck, topped the nomination charts with five nods. His versatility and influence in the music scene were highlighted as he was nominated in several categories. Following closely, Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, aka Ayra Starr, and Crown Uzama, known as Shallipopi, each earned three nominations, acknowledging their remarkable contributions to music.
Odumodublvck’s nominations include a strong presence in the “Best Collaboration” category where he is competing with two of his tracks against heavyweights like Chike, Wizkid, Zlatan, Asa, and Tiwa Savage.
Tragically, the late Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known by his stage name Mohbad, also received three nominations posthumously, honoring his legacy despite his untimely death on September 12, 2023. His nominations underscore the lasting impact of his music.
