Nigerian TikTok creator Young CEO has sparked widespread debate on social media after sharing videos of what appears to be a newly acquired Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The luxury SUV, one of Mercedes-Benz’s flagship models, has a starting retail price of approximately R4.5 million in South Africa, with well-equipped examples selling for well above R5 million, depending on specifications and optional features.
Young CEO, who posts lifestyle and entrepreneurship content on TikTok under the handle @young.ceo30, shared videos celebrating the vehicle alongside friends. The clips quickly gained traction across TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, generating thousands of comments and reposts.
In one of the videos, he stated that they are living in South Africa legally and have no plans to leave. The remarks attracted significant attention as they emerged amid renewed public debate over immigration, undocumented migration and the presence of foreign nationals in the country.
The videos have prompted sharply divided reactions online. While many users congratulated the content creator on the apparent milestone and praised his success, others criticised the celebratory tone, arguing it was insensitive given South Africa’s economic challenges, high unemployment and recurring tensions surrounding immigration.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is regarded as one of the most exclusive SUVs available in South Africa. Although official registration figures are not publicly available, relatively few examples are typically listed for sale on the country’s used-car market at any given time, highlighting the model’s exclusivity.
