The naira strengthened marginally against the US dollar at the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM), closing at N1,331.00/$ on 29 September 2026, compared with N1,331.50/$ recorded on 28 September.
The latest movement represents a N0.50 appreciation, or 0.04%, in the value of the naira at the official foreign exchange market, according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In the parallel market, the naira also gained ground, with the dollar falling to N1,370.00/$ on 30 September from N1,374.00/$ the previous day, according to Bureau de Change operators.

The N4.00 decline represents a 0.29% appreciation of the naira. The gap between the parallel-market rate and the latest NAFEM rate stood at about N39/$.
Pound, Euro and Canadian Dollar Rates
The British pound strengthened against the naira in the parallel market, rising to N1,820.00/£1 from N1,817.00/£1. The N3.00 movement represents a 0.16% depreciation of the naira against sterling.
The euro declined to N1,555.00/€1 from N1,557.00/€1, a N2.00 (0.13%) gain for the naira.
The Canadian dollar eased to N965.00/C$1 from N968.00/C$1, representing a N3.00, or 0.31%, appreciation of the naira against the Canadian currency.
External Reserves
Nigeria’s external reserves rose to $54.906 billion as of 28 September 2026, up from $54.875 billion on 25 September, a gain of 0.06%, according to CBN figures.
