The naira appreciated marginally against the US dollar at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) on Friday, September 18, 2026, closing at N1,329.99/$, according to official data.
The closing rate represents an appreciation of about N1.01, or 0.08%, compared with the previous session’s closing rate of N1,331.00/$. The day’s simple average exchange rate stood at N1,331.5574/$, while the official NFEM rate was recorded at N1,331.2027/$.
In the parallel market, the dollar remained unchanged at N1,375/$ on September 18, according to Bureau de Change operators with the parallel-market rate approximately N45 above the NFEM closing rate, representing a spread of about 3.4%.

Other major foreign currencies also maintained their quoted parallel-market rates during the session as the British pound traded at N1,835/£1, while the euro was quoted at N1,576/€1 and the Canadian dollar remained unchanged at N980/C$1.
