Arsenal scored twice in extra time for last gasp win!

Arsenal were in cruise control as the halftime whistle was blown. Most of the first half was played with Arsenal applying pressure on Leicester’s final third area. Leicester expectations weren’t high coming into the game, but it was a particularly bad first half from Steve Cooper’s side. The Foxes barely tested David Raya with them hardly threatening the Gunners side of the net.
The second half though became a completely different game! Leicester started it with all guns blazing. They scored twice in quick successions, thanks to James Justin’s exploits. The Foxes fightback began when Buonanotte’s free kick completely wrong-footed David Raya. Justin took advantage of it to head it home. The ball deflected off the shoulder of Havertz to give them their first goal.
James Justin then followed it up with a brilliant second goal. As a lovely clipped pass from Ndidi found Justin lurking at the back post. Who got a clean hit on the volley to complete a fantastic goal. Leicester were back to a 2-2 scoreline.
Arsenal switched off at the beginning of the second half to allow Leicester to come back into the game. Mikel Arteta was certainly not happy in the dugout. Arsenal faced incredible resistance from Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen as they bid to restore their goal advantage. The runners-up of last season had to dig deep and keep applying the pressure all through the second half to finally score two goals in the extra time period of the game!
Arsenal’s biggest advantage in the match was their set-pieces. They had seventeen corners today, as the sustained pressure from them bourned fruit. A lofted corner swung to the back post, and Trossard kept it alive before Ndidi inadvertently put the ball through his own net. Jesus then worked hard, breaking with pace, before the ball came to Havertz who then eased it over the line. Harsh on Leicester but Arsenal will gladly take the final 4-2 victory.
Arsenal are now on equal points to Manchester City at the league table after City were played to a tie by Newcastle United earlier today.
