Federal Ministry of Works Opens 2026 Training Programme for Skilled Artisans Across Nigeria

Federal Ministry of Works Recruitment 2026: Apply for Artisans Training Programme

The ministry announced a final extension for its Capacity Building and On-Site Training Programme, an initiative under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Engineering Mentorship Programme designed to strengthen Nigeria’s technical workforce while supporting ongoing federal infrastructure projects.

According to the ministry, earlier application windows, including one that closed on December 31, 2025, did not produce enough qualified artisans despite receiving sufficient applications from engineering graduates. As a result, the latest recruitment exercise is strictly for skilled artisans, while graduate engineer applications are no longer being accepted because that category has already met its target.

The training programme is open to qualified unemployed artisans from all 774 local government areas in Nigeria. Successful applicants will receive practical construction experience on federal infrastructure projects under the supervision of registered engineers and certified professionals.

The initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve local technical expertise, create employment opportunities for young Nigerians, and expand the skilled workforce needed for road, bridge, and other public infrastructure projects.
