About the Role:

The Coca-Cola Africa Operating Unit’s Public Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability team is seeking an experienced and dynamic public policy expert to serve as Senior Director, Public Policy Engagement. This pivotal role will shape how Coca-Cola, its people, and its brands are represented in key forums across Africa. The successful candidate will build and maintain strong relationships with critical stakeholders, including African multilateral organizations, government institutions, and regulatory bodies. The role involves collaboration with internal business units, industry groups, and Coca-Cola’s authorized bottling partners to drive policy advocacy and engagement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Policy Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans related to public policy and government affairs.
Stakeholder Engagement: Lead lobbying and strategic engagement initiatives with external stakeholders, including government officials, regulators, and community leaders.
Representation: Serve as Coca-Cola’s representative in key African organizations and industry discussions on public policy matters.
Policy and Regulatory Management: Oversee the company’s response to policy areas related to environmental regulations, health and ingredients, fiscal policies, and marketing standards.
Emerging Category Oversight: Ensure compliance with policy and regulatory frameworks for emerging categories, fostering responsible consumption and adherence to sustainability commitments.
Advocacy Leadership: Drive projects and advocacy efforts across Coca-Cola’s African operations, supporting both business units and bottling partners.
Playbook Development: Create and implement comprehensive playbooks for navigating key policy areas and regulatory landscapes.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Educational Background: Degree or diploma in Public Policy, Government Affairs, Communications, or a related field.
Experience: Proven track record in public policy, government affairs, or public relations within a global corporation or multinational environment.
Strategic Leadership: Demonstrated effectiveness in leading strategic engagement and lobbying efforts with government entities and regulatory bodies.
Policy Expertise: In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, fiscal policies, and public affairs management.
Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills to manage complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Decision-Making: Ability to confidently lead and make decisions on programs with broad organizational impact.
Collaborative Leadership: Experience managing projects that span multiple functions and working closely with vendors, bottlers, and other business partners.
