Club legend, Jamie Vardy, has announced he would be leaving relegated Leicester City at the end of the season marking the end of his 13 year stay at the club.
Jamie Vardy who joined Leicester in 2012 from Fleetwood Town was an integral part of the Leicester team that shocked the world by winning the English Premier League in 2016. The 38-year-old is the club’s record Premier League scorer with 143, and in all competitions has scored 198 goals in 498 appearances.
Departure Announcement
In a statement announcing his departure from the club, jamie vardy said “I’ve had 13 unbelievable years at this club with lots of success, some downs but a majority, all highs, but it’s finally time to call it a day, which I’m devastated about but I think the timing is right.
“I just want to sincerely thank you all for taking me in as one of your own. Leicester will always, always have a massive place in my heart and I’ll make sure that I will be following for the years to come and what I hope will be even more successful for the club. But as for now, this is my goodbye but you will see me again soon, I promise. Thank you.” Vardy concluded.
The striker has noted he is not ready to retire just yet and is being tipped for a move to the US in the summer.
