Manchester United finally had a good game in the Premier League to win 3-0. It was a composed performance by the Red Devils as they had a brilliant first half on captain Bruno Fernandes’s 250th start for the club. It was also interim Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final game before Ruben Amorim takes charge as head coach on Monday.
Manchester United started on the front foot; as it looked like they had finally settled on a balanced team. Højlund led as the striker, Rashford the left winger, Bruno as 10, and Amad the right winger. Casemiro and Ugarte have been solid in the midfield in recent matches. The back four are composed of Martinez and De Ligt as CBs and Mazraoui and Dalot playing as the full-backs. Today the team looked their assured best on the ball this season. Especially on the positive first half.
Bruno opened up the scoring when a lovely backheel from Amad, who had just swapped wings with Rashford, came to Fernandes who put it into the bottom corner. It was Fernandes’ ninth goal against Leicester in eight starts, having scored twice against them in the Carabao Cup less than a fortnight ago. The captain followed it up by being involved in the second goal as well. Mazraoui delivered a superb cross which clipped Bruno’s right thigh and went down to Kristiansen’s leg and into the back of the net.

The second half saw the game slow in intensity as United were happy to let Leicester have more possession while they focused on maintaining their defensive shape. The Red Devils were ready to pounce on the attack if given the opportunity and that is the exact scenario that led to the third and final goal of the match. Garnacho got a sublime no-look pass from Eriksen in the build-up to set United on their way for a counter. The Argentinian substitute produced a beautiful curling finish to seal the match for Manchester United.
Interim Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy signed off unbeaten during his caretaker time and his team would go into the international break on a positive note. Meanwhile, Leicester City would look to quickly bounce back in their quest to remain out of the relegation zone.
