CFAO is recruiting Chief Finance Officer

CFAO is currently recruiting a Chief Finance Officer to oversee its financial strategy and operations across its diverse business portfolio. With Africa For Africa

You will be responsible for managing the subsidiary’s administrative and financial functions, as well as drawing up the company’s corporate and tax accounts, and you will be required to provide the financial indicators needed by the subsidiary’s general management.

Your areas of responsibilities and expectations will be the follow :

Strategy & Policy

  • Contribute to strategic planning and development as a member of the executive team.
  • Oversee the financial strategy planning/budgeting, monitoring, management, and reporting, including management and development of policies, systems, processes, and personnel involved.
  • Ensure that accounting plans, goals, and policies are consistent with established organization-wide goals.
  • Ensure Group policy related to this function is localized to suit the Nigerian environment.

Leading and Managing the Finance Function

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day activities within the Finance function including general ledger, treasury management, payroll processing, credit control, and related reporting.
  • Assures that accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with the organization’s accounting policies and related accounting principles and Group practices and that the subordinate ledger reconciles with the general ledger.
  • Prescribes methods of providing accounting data for various reports and statements where the need does not follow the normal content of accounts.
  • Directs maintenance of fixed asset records and related depreciation accounts; provides interpretative assistance as to the proper capitalization/expensing of outlays and grouping of fixed assets by class, as well as depreciation methodology.
  • Collaborate with management to develop schedules, procedures, and systems to enable the timely and informative accumulation, adjustment, and reporting of financial data.
  • Ensure integration of activities with other functions in order to effectively deliver on organizational objectives.
  • Ensure that all employees within Assene Laborex are well informed of accounting policies procedures and regulations.

Finance Related Administration

  • Perform the duties of the Company Secretary (e.g. statutory company administration responsibilities depending on relevant legal requirements).
  • Oversee the auditing process and ensure that the audits are conducted. Act as the Liaison with external auditors.
  • Responsible for the procurement of non-trade goods and services
  • Responsible for identifying and negotiating with insurance providers in relation to goods, infrastructure, fixed assets, stationery, servicing of equipment, as well as non-trade insurance.

Supervisory Duties

  • Participate in sourcing, recruitment, induction, and coaching of the Finance team, motivate to retain team as well as carry out performance appraisals for the Finance team.
  • Assigns duties to and monitors activities of the team to ensure achievement of performance standards.

Competencies

Education and work experience : minimum Master’s degree with hands-on working experience.

Technical

  • Knowledge and principles of Nigeria tax laws and other statutory regularities
  • Ability to prepare budgets and projections.
  • Ability to develop sales strategies
  • Ability to assess business risk and advise accordingly.
  • Broad knowledge of cash management, financial accounting, and corporate finance.
