ExxonMobil has opened applications for a Maintenance Coordinator position in Nigeria, offering an opportunity for an experienced technical professional to join its offshore operations.
The role is part of ExxonMobil’s Operations – Maintenance job group and is based offshore Nigeria. The successful candidate will support the Maintenance Supervisor and help ensure the safe, efficient and compliant operation of the Maintenance Department.
The position is particularly suited to candidates with experience in oil and gas maintenance, work management, materials coordination and offshore operations.

About the ExxonMobil Maintenance Coordinator Role
The Maintenance Coordinator will assist with the day-to-day coordination of maintenance activities, including materials, work orders, procurement and maintenance planning.
The position also requires the successful candidate to support compliance with safety, security, health and environmental requirements and ExxonMobil’s Operations Integrity Management System (OIMS) practices.
Working as part of the offshore maintenance team, the coordinator will liaise with maintenance supervisors, planners, contractors and other personnel to ensure that materials and work packages are available for scheduled maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
The Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for a range of maintenance coordination and administrative activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying material requirements and sourcing required materials and services.
- Initiating procurement activities for maintenance materials and services.
- Supporting the Maintenance First Line Supervisor and Maintenance Planner with scheduling and execution activities.
- Ensuring maintenance activities comply with SSH&E and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Obtaining return authorizations for materials and equipment.
- Coordinating purchase order numbers, packaging and shipping arrangements for returned or repaired items.
- Updating daily work order confirmations based on information from the Maintenance First Line Supervisor.
- Coordinating daily work orders and materials.
- Ensuring job packs are prepared for planned work execution.
- Reconciling department materials and contract invoices.
- Verifying material receipts.
- Supporting effective controls within the scope of the position.
The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to coordinate several maintenance-related activities in an offshore operating environment.
Educational Requirements
Applicants should have one of the following qualifications:
- Higher National Certificate (HNC), equivalent to A-levels plus three years of study.
- BTS/DUT or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
- Materials Engineering.
- Corrosion Engineering.
- Offshore or Marine Engineering.
- Structural Engineering.
- Metallurgy.
- Petroleum Engineering with an integrity background.
A BSc in Engineering or a related science discipline without an HND diploma may also be accepted where the applicant has established and verifiable experience as maintenance personnel in the oil and gas industry for at least five years.
ExxonMobil specifies that the position is strictly a technician role.
Experience Requirements
Applicants must have a minimum of five years of relevant maintenance execution experience.
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of oil and gas operations.
- Understanding of operational risks and producing equipment.
- Knowledge of equipment criticality.
- Familiarity with work management practices.
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), including SAP.
