The Nigerian Navy has warned the public against a fake recruitment notice circulating on social media, purportedly announcing a 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.
The Navy said the notice was not authorised and urged prospective applicants to disregard recruitment information obtained from unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unauthorised sources.
The Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, September 21, 2026.
According to him, information on Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, timelines and recruitment categories, would only be released through the service’s authorised communication channels.
Folorunsho identified the official Nigerian Navy recruitment website as joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng and said the Navy’s main website, navy.mil.ng, would also be used to communicate official information. The Navy also warned applicants against paying individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with recruitment, stressing that the exercise is free.
“The Nigerian Navy does not authorise third parties to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on its behalf,” Folorunsho said.
He added that the Navy remained committed to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and would continue to provide recruitment updates through its official communication channels.
The warning comes as recruitment-related notices circulate widely across social media, where applicants can be vulnerable to fraudulent websites, impersonators and requests for payment.
The Navy therefore advised prospective applicants to verify any recruitment announcement through its authorised platforms before submitting personal information or making any payment.
