Nollywood Actor Alex Ekubo has reportedly passed away aged 40 according to unconfirmed reports.
The actor is reported to have succumbed to Cancer following a long battle with the illness.
Alex Ekubo was one of the most beloved actors in Nollywood and had hundreds of movie credits to his name. Ekubo first gained wider recognition after emerging as the first runner-up at the 2010
Ekubo’s film debut was a minor role in Lancelot Oduwa Imaseun’s Sinners in the house (2003). He later starred in Afamefuna, Power of 1,A Sunday Affair, Omo Ghetto: The Saga, The Bling Lagosians, Catch.er, Zero Hour, The First Lady, Lagos Cougars, Weekend Getaway, among other films.
Following his death, there has been an outpouring of tributes from his colleagues and Nigerians.
Actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele shared a post on her Instagram story, revealing her own attempts to see the actor before he passed.
“Rest in peace, Alex. I tried to reach out to see you one more time, but I guess you knew best. May your kind soul rest in peace, Alex,” she wrote.
Kate Henshaw wrote “I just heard terrible news. Father Lord please”
Peggy Ovire wrote, “I am truly lost for words. Some pains are too heavy to explain, and some losses are too heartbreaking to accept. Rest peacefully, Alex Ekubo”
