Actor Jon Bernthal is officially returning as Frank Castle in a new Marvel Television Special Presentation titled “Punisher: One Last Kill,” which is scheduled to premiere on May 12.
The release will coincide with the Season 2 finale of “Daredevil: Born Again,” further strengthening the connection between the two storylines.
Bernthal first portrayed the brutal anti-hero in Season 2 of Netflix’s “Daredevil” back in 2016, where his character clashed with Matt Murdock before eventually forming a reluctant alliance.
His performance quickly resonated with fans, leading to a standalone “Punisher” series that ran for two seasons between 2017 and 2019.
Following the end of the Netflix era, several street-level Marvel characters gradually transitioned into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Charlie Cox reprised his role as Matt Murdock in multiple projects, including “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” and “Echo.”
In 2025, he returned fully in “Daredevil: Born Again” on Disney+, which marked Marvel’s first TV-MA-rated series.
Bernthal also rejoined the universe in “Daredevil: Born Again,” where Frank Castle teamed up once again with Murdock to confront Wilson Fisk, the powerful New York City mayor also known as Kingpin.
The show’s success has already secured renewals through Season 3, and Bernthal’s return in his own special further expands Marvel’s street-level storytelling.
In addition to the upcoming special, Bernthal is set to appear in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” alongside Tom Holland.
The film will also feature returning characters such as the Hulk and Scorpion, continuing Marvel’s effort to bring together familiar faces across its interconnected universe.
With “Punisher: One Last Kill,” Marvel appears to be doubling down on the popularity of its grounded, character-driven stories, offering fans another intense chapter in Frank Castle’s journey.
