Seplat Energy and Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) have opened applications for the 2026 edition of the NNPC/Seplat Teachers Empowerment Programme (STEP), an initiative designed to improve teaching quality and strengthen secondary school education in southern Nigeria.
The programme was announced during the Seplat JV Education Summit, where the joint venture highlighted its continued investment in human capital development and education across host communities.
Programme Focus
STEP is aimed at secondary school teachers in Edo State and Delta State, providing professional development training designed to improve classroom teaching methods, encourage creative thinking, and enhance student engagement.
According to the organisers, the programme seeks to equip educators with modern teaching strategies and tools that can help create a more dynamic and well-rounded learning environment for students.
The initiative forms part of the corporate social responsibility efforts of the NNPC–Seplat Joint Venture, which has supported multiple education and community development programmes across the Niger Delta.

Applicants will then receive login credentials through their registered phone number or email address.
Application Timeline
The organisers outlined the following key dates for the programme:
- Application opens: March 2, 2026
- Application deadline: March 13, 2026
- Qualifying test: March 16 – March 27, 2026
Only teachers who successfully pass the qualifying stage will proceed to the next phase of the programme.
Eligibility
The programme is open to secondary school teachers and chief examiners working within Edo and Delta states. However, teachers who have participated in previous editions of the empowerment programme are not eligible to apply again.
Participation in the programme is free of charge, reflecting the initiative’s objective of improving access to professional development opportunities for educators.
