The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has warned candidates seeking admission into the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session against engaging in examination malpractice or violating the rules guiding its forthcoming Post-UTME screening exercise.
According to a statement issued by the university’s Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs. Abosede Wickliffe, the online aptitude test will take place from July 27 to July 31, 2026, with candidates expected to complete the examination under remotely proctored conditions.
Candidates Must Use Laptops Only
UNILAG said all applicants must use laptops equipped with built-in webcams and microphones throughout the examination.
The university stressed that mobile phones, tablets, external webcams, smart glasses, headphones, and other electronic devices are prohibited during the test.
Candidates are also expected to sit for the examination alone in a quiet, well-lit environment for the entire 30-minute duration. Speaking during the examination, reading questions aloud, or allowing anyone into the examination space could be treated as misconduct.
Stable Internet and Electricity Required
The institution advised candidates to ensure they have reliable internet access and uninterrupted electricity throughout the examination period.
UNILAG noted that it would not be responsible for disruptions arising from power failures, poor internet connectivity, or other technical challenges beyond its control.
Candidates who encounter technical issues during the examination have been directed to use the “Need Help?” feature available on the examination platform.
Mock Examination Mandatory
The university also announced that participation in the mock examination, which remains available until July 25, is compulsory for all candidates.
According to the institution, the mock test is designed to verify device compatibility, internet connectivity, webcam performance, and overall readiness before the main examination.
UNILAG added that its Safe Examination Browser is compatible only with Windows 10 or later and macOS Ventura or later, advising candidates to use the same laptop, internet connection, and examination environment during both the mock and actual tests.
The university cautioned candidates against dealing with cybercafés, business centres, CBT centres, or individuals claiming to have official links with UNILAG.
It reiterated that the Post-UTME aptitude test will be conducted exclusively online from locations chosen by candidates and not from designated examination centres.
The institution further clarified that the approved screening fee remains ₦5,500, consisting of a ₦2,000 application fee and a ₦3,500 administrative charge.
Candidates were urged to rely only on information published through UNILAG’s official communication channels.
The university warned that fraud, impersonation, unauthorised assistance, or any form of examination malpractice could result in the cancellation of applications or examination results, adding that all decisions regarding the conduct and outcome of the screening exercise will be final.
