Vitel Wireless Limited has officially launched commercial operations, becoming the country’s first fully operational Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO).
Licensed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in 2023 under the 0712 number series, Vitel completed full interconnectivity with MTN, Airtel, Glo, and 9mobile by May 2025. Nationwide roaming agreement with MTN followed in July.
The new network seeks to compete with existing mobile network operators for a share of the Nigerian subscriber market, albeit initially through collaborations.
Nationwide SIM Rollout
The company says it has rolled out 50,000 physical SIMs and eSIMs at N1,500 each across the country with Instant KYC handled via NIN, driver’s licence, or passport.
Customers can purchase Vitel SIMs and eSIMs through multiple convenient channels. The company’s official website, vitelwireless.com, features a “Find Store” locator that helps users identify the nearest sales point in real time.
Vitel has also opened Experience Centres in major cities, including Lagos, Abuja (3C Durban Street, Wuse 2), Port Harcourt, Enugu, and Kano, to provide on-site registration and customer support. In addition, SIMs are available through SLOT Systems outlets, airport kiosks, and authorised neighbourhood vendors nationwide.
For users with compatible devices, eSIMs can be remotely activated, offering a fully digital onboarding experience without the need for a physical card.
