Role Overview
The Sustainability Manager will lead the development and execution of Aradel’s sustainability and ESG framework, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy and long-term value creation.
The role is central to strengthening the company’s environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance practices across its assets and operations.
Key responsibilities include ESG integration, environmental risk management, sustainability reporting, stakeholder engagement, and continuous performance improvement.
Core Responsibilities
ESG Strategy & Integration
- Develop and implement Aradel’s ESG and sustainability strategy
- Embed sustainability principles into project planning, investments, and operations
- Translate ESG commitments into measurable KPIs and governance systems
- Coordinate sustainability activities across business units and assets
Environmental & Climate Management
- Oversee initiatives on carbon management, energy efficiency, waste, water, and biodiversity
- Support compliance with Nigerian environmental regulations and reporting requirements
- Work with HSE and operations teams to mitigate environmental risks
- Support climate risk assessments for upstream oil and gas activities
Governance & Compliance
- Develop and maintain ESG policies aligned with global best practices
- Support enterprise risk management by identifying ESG risks and opportunities
- Strengthen governance structures for transparency and accountability
- Engage with board-level sustainability committees and regulators
ESG Reporting & Disclosure
- Lead preparation of ESG and sustainability reports
- Align disclosures with relevant international reporting frameworks
- Collaborate with Finance and Corporate Communications on stakeholder reporting
Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage sustainability-related engagement with regulators and industry stakeholders
- Provide technical ESG input for investor relations and government engagement
- Monitor industry trends and regulatory developments
Performance Monitoring
- Define ESG KPIs and track sustainability performance
- Drive continuous improvement through audits, data analysis, and internal reviews
Required Experience & Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Social Sciences, or related field
- Postgraduate qualification or ESG/sustainability certification is an advantage
Experience
- 10–12 years of progressive experience in sustainability, ESG, HSE, or corporate responsibility
- Experience in oil & gas or extractive industries preferred
- Strong exposure to regulatory engagement and stakeholder management in Nigeria
