The Supreme Court has invalidated the Rivers local government election held on October 5, 2024, by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.
Justice Jamilu Tukur, delivering the judgment, declared the election void due to significant breaches of the Electoral Act.
He emphasized that the commission’s continuation of voter registration after setting the election date disregarded Section 150 of the Act.
