Reni Onafeko has been appointed Country Managing Director of Glovo Nigeria, taking charge of one of the company’s fastest-growing markets globally.
Onafeko, who has been leading Glovo’s Nigerian operations since the beginning of 2026, succeeds Lamide Akinola, who stepped down after more than three years as the company’s Nigeria general manager.
Akinola joined the company in 2021 as Head of Q-commerce for Sub-Saharan Africa, where she helped build its marketplace business for groceries, health and retail and launched and scaled dark stores across the region.
Management Consulting to Technology
Onafeko joined Glovo in 2023 after an eight-year career in management consulting, including a stint with Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in London.
At BCG, she worked with senior executives and investors on investment decisions and growth strategy, experience that would later shape her responsibilities at Glovo.
Since Glovo, Onafeko has held several senior positions, including Head of Strategy & Finance and Head of Growth.
“My experience across strategy, finance and growth has given me a strong understanding of our business and opportunities within the market,” Onafeko said.
“I look forward to working with our teams, partners and wider ecosystem to build on what we have achieved and deliver sustainable growth in the years ahead.”
Taking Glovo to New Heights
Onafeko takes over Glovo Nigeria at a time when the company says the country has become its fastest-growing market globally.
Glovo said Nigeria delivered 38 million items in the year to its Future of Commerce summit in April 2026. The company has also invested more than N37 billion ($27 million) in Nigeria since entering the market.
In 2025, Glovo said it doubled its network of partner restaurants and shops while also doubling the economic value generated for those businesses.
The company currently operates across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ibadan, giving Onafeko responsibility for a business spanning food delivery, groceries, retail and other on-demand services.
