Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force are reported to have arrested the Director General of the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi.
His arrest comes barely a few hours after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a warrant for his arrest.
Fake Agency Scandal
Adeniyi Adeyemi is the “Director General” of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), a seemingly non-existent federal agency within the presidency which secured office space in the Federal Secretariat, opened bank accounts, and received a ₦1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act, despite never being legally established by the Federal Government.
Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew is being prosecuted by the ICPC for using forged presidential documents, fake appointment letters and falsified official approvals to obtain a budget code, official office accommodation, bank accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria and commercial banks, and the deployment of civil servants to the purported agency.
Adeyemi has denied preparing the PFIPC’s budget, maintaining that he was in police custody during the period the 2026 budget was prepared. He further argued that neither he nor anyone acting on his behalf participated in the preparation, defence or approval of the agency’s budget allocation. He also alleged to have paid N40million to secure the appointment.
Police have charged Adeyemi and two others with offences including forgery, impersonation and obtaining by false pretence. Adeyemi has denied preparing the PFIPC’s budget, arguing that he was in police custody during the budget preparation process and insisting that neither he nor anyone acting on his behalf participated in the budgeting or defence of the agency’s allocation.
