The match started with high intensity as last year’s premier league top two battled it out. Manchester City got the first sniff when their number nine struck home a clinical goal in the ninth minute. Haaland scored his 100th City goal in just over two years of playing for Manchester City. The goal came from Savinho skipping inside the middle of the pitch and releasing Haaland, who wrong-sided Gabriel. Before the City striker clinically struke home past Raya.
The fierceness of the match increased after the goal, with Arsenal looking to make a comeback. The referee called in Walker and Saka to calm the teams down before allowing Arsenal to take a free kick, when Man City players – especially Walker was out of position due to the referee’s summon.
Arsenal took full advantage of the free-kick by passing it to Martinelli who raced down the left. He pulled the ball back for Calafiori, on his first Premier League start, and he curled a beauty into the top corner!

Arsenal soon had more reason to celebrate as Gabriel rose highest in a corner to strike a header into the far corner. Gabriel is making it a habit of scoring goals with headers. Arsenal who were behind after ten minutes, were ahead going into six added minutes!
Arsenal who were with the momentum had their wings clipped when Leandro Trossard got sent off just before half-time. Already on a booking, the Belgian barged Bernardo and then kicked the ball away. Michael Oliver had no choice but to double yellow card him. Arsenal having a repeat experience similar to the Rice double yellow experience of a few weeks back.
It was a Sensational half of football with much to look forward to in the second half. Arsenal are in the lead but down to 10 men, while Manchester City would look to make a comeback and try to win it at the Etihad!
The second half saw Arsenal do some resolute defensive play with Ben White being substituted for Saka. Man City had over 20 shots in the second half to no avail. The Gunners and their fans started to believe they might have a shot at a famous victory; only to be denied with a last-gasp goal from John Stones for City!
It was a scrappy goal but Man City would gladly take it. They took a corner short and Grealish got to the left byline. He pulled the ball back for Kovacic but Arsenal blocked his shot. The rebound fell to Stones and he squeezed it through Raya’s desperate dive.
Arsenal are denied top spot! Manchester City would take the one point and retain their top position in the league table.
