The Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) has launched recruitment for three remote positions under the Africa Youth Climate Fund (AYCF), seeking professionals to support youth-led climate initiatives across Africa.
The vacancies include Programs and Community Support Manager, Communications and Youth Engagement Officer, and Grants and Operations Manager. All three positions are offered on a one-year contract renewable subject to performance and funding availability and are open to applicants residing anywhere in Africa.
According to GAYO, the recruitment is part of efforts to strengthen the Africa Youth Climate Fund’s capacity to finance, support and amplify youth-led climate action across the continent. The organization, founded in 2014, works with local communities to reduce vulnerability to climate change while promoting sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
Three leadership roles available
Programs and Community Support Manager
The successful candidate will oversee AYCF’s programme portfolio, providing strategic leadership for grant implementation, capacity building, programme quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation, and stakeholder engagement.
The role involves supporting youth-led organizations throughout the grant lifecycle while strengthening institutional capacity, facilitating peer learning and ensuring funded projects deliver measurable climate impact across Africa. The position offers a monthly gross salary of $2,500 to $3,000.
Communications and Youth Engagement Officer
GAYO is also seeking a communications professional to lead AYCF’s storytelling, digital communications and youth engagement strategy.
The officer will manage multimedia content, social media, institutional communications and public engagement while helping amplify the voices and achievements of young climate leaders across Africa.
The successful applicant will also coordinate communication campaigns, media engagement and knowledge-sharing initiatives. The salary range for the position is $1,500 to $2,000 per month.
Grants and Operations Manager
The third vacancy is for a Grants and Operations Manager responsible for overseeing AYCF’s grant-making systems, compliance framework and institutional operations.
The position includes managing grant administration, operational policies, donor compliance, procurement processes, risk management and organisational systems that support climate funding across Africa. Monthly remuneration ranges from $2,700 to $3,000.
Qualifications
The vacancies target experienced professionals in international development, programme management, communications, grants administration, climate change, public policy and related disciplines.
Depending on the role, applicants are expected to have between three and seven years of relevant professional experience, with previous work in the development, climate, humanitarian or non-profit sectors considered an advantage. Experience working with youth-led organisations and climate initiatives is also desirable.
