EDO POLL: APC in massive lead, as collation concluded in 16 LGs

APC leads Edo

The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Monday Okpebholo has taken the lead in the Edo State governorship election.

Based on the collation done so far, Okpebholo has over 48,000 more votes ahead of his closest rival Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

How many local government areas are in Edo State?

16 local government area results have been concluded with only two left. Okpebholo, who represents Edo Central in the Senate, has won 10 with 244, 549 votes ahead of his rival’s 195, 954.

PDP Led in 6 Places

The PDP candidate has so far defeated the APC counterpart in six of the local government councils declared so far while Labour Party (LP)’s Olumide Akpata had pulled 13, 346 votes.

The Returning Officer for the election, Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, demanded a break be observed, to allow for the arrival of results from two more local government areas. The collation process will resume in few hours.

Meanwhile, PDP has launched protests in the state, claiming the entire process was marred by irregularities.

Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has earlier been pictured with other governors in a press conference declaring the results of the process.
