Alhaji Aliko Dangote of Dangote plc, Abdulsamad Rabiu of BUA, Femi Otedola of Forte oil and Mike Adenuga of Globacom have been ranked amongst the top 20 African Billionaires for the year 2024. This was revealed in a report released by Africa Digest.

Aliko Dangote
The Nigerian Billionaire tops the list of the richest billionaires in Africa with a net worth of $11.5billion at the end of 2024. The head of Dangote group of refineries shed a part of his net worth after opening up his Dangote refinery, he has however managed to hold on to top spot on the list.
Johan Ruppert and Family
The South African family who deal in luxury goods currently have a net worth of $11.1billion. The Rupert’s wealth comes from Cie Financiere Richemont, a luxury goods manufacturer and retailer that includes brands like Cartier and Montblanc.
Nicky Oppenheimer and Family
Despite selling its stake in De Beers and in the process relinquishing their control of global diamond trade in 2012, the Oppenheimer family still rank as the third richest in Africa with an estimated net worth of $9.5 billion. This is due to a 720 square miles of conservation land in South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique owned by the family, a chartered flight operation outfit called Fireblade Aviation and a significant stake in Nigeria’s GZ industries which supplies cans to top beverage companies including Coca Cola.

The Egyptian Billionaire currently has a net worth of $7.7billion. Sawiris runs runs OCI, one of the world’s largest nitrogen fertilizer producers and is also a major shareholder in English Premier League side, Aston Villa.
