China on Sunday launched the world’s first 10G broadband network in the Sunnan county, Hebei province of the country.
The groundbreaking launch which is a result of a collaboration between Huawei, and China Unicom aims to deliver download speed of up to 9,834Mbps and upload speed of 1,008 Mbps.
The 10G broadband network is powered by the 50G passive Optical Network (PON) and aims to improve data transmission over the current fiber optic network.
The high bandwidth capability of the 10G network makes it suitable for Cloud Computing, Virtual and Augmented Reality, streaming 8k videos and powering smart home devices.
For instance, downloading a 4k movie which would usually take 7-10 minutes on 1G network would now take only 20 seconds.
Big Win For China
